LAcie External USB HDD Isn't "Readable"

I had my LAcie external hard drive connected to my macbook pro last night. My mac froze and I was left with the option of having to power it down manually (holding power button for 8 seconds or so) When I connected the HDD the next day I got a window that said the drive was not readable. What do I do?!

AS a first stage - run disk utility on it (repair disk)
