Macbook Pro's getting slower

My Macbook Pro bought in Sep'09 is taking more time to startup and shut down. What should I do to make it faster?

Your Mac's Specs
iMac 20" 2.4 GHz Dual Core 3GB Ram 320GB Hard Drive 10.6.2 :: Ipod Touch 8 GB :: Beastly Gaming PC
try downloading OnyX. it will clean out the system caches and should help boot time.

Also, as a side note: the more stuff you have on your HD, the longer it will take to start up
