The wait is killing me!

I ordered iPads for my wife and myself on May 26th. The wait is really driving me crazy. I was kinda interested in the iPad until I played with one in store, then I fell in love. My order status just changed from "Not yet shipped" to "Prepared for shipment". Does anyone know how long it usually takes to switch from "Prepared for shipment" to "Shipped"?

Ordered mine May 23 states shipment to arrive 10:30 am the 9th of June .

Wow! I feel lucky they had them in stock when my wife bought me an early anniversary gift last Friday. 64GB iPad wi-fi. Hang in there, the wait will be worth it!

the process will change to "Shipped" when you yell 5 hail marys and then pray to the lord Steve... j/k it should be changed soon, usually they are shipped quick

I managed picking one up locally to me at the weekend! 64gb wi-fi version...
This is by far the best thing I've ever bought! I don't want to ignite the flash row, but I just haven't found myself going to sites that use flash! I'm unsure if that's that subconsciously I know it won't work or if my browsing habits aren't flash intensive!!!!

I know the wait must be painful but trust me, just like everyone else has stated, it's is worth the wait!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement! It looks like my iPads are still "Prepared for shipment". They are scheduled to arrive on June 15th, I hope they come sooner!

Got it this morning and the wife and I have been swapping back and forth from MBP to iPad and yes we both love it now the expensive part filling that book case up.

Congrats! I wish there was some way I could browse the iBookstore before I get the iPad. I'm very curious as to what books are available and if the books I want to read are there.

Yeah, I got the kindle app and a bunch of book samples to read. The kindle store has basically every book that I want. I'd rather buy them in the iBookstore though, because it seems to be more polished on the iPad then the kindle app.

The kindle app has it over iBooks in being able to change from a white to sepia background or white on black which is my preference when I hit the bed at night.

The iBooks app lets you change the page turning function so that touching either side of the screen will page forward. This is a cool feature when laying in bed reading with one hand and your other arm under the pillow. It also has a font size big enough I can read without my glasses. The kindle app doesn't even come close in that regard.

I've come really close to buying a couple of books from both places.

I'm at a weird place regarding e-books. I like having a physical paper book, but I also like the idea of taking multiple books with me in a nice small form factor. I don't want to pay twice for a book, and I'll probably choose paper over e-book. I can really only see myself buying e-books of books that I've read, and want to re-read, but don't own.

Personally, I think that hardcover books should come with a free digital download (like some movies do now). That would be amazing.
