The ipad's accelerometre does not work in zero gravity
And here's a youtube video of proof of this.
YouTube - iPad Test - The worlds first iPad in zero gravity (Test from swiss television)

So Steve we have a big issue here. I think we need a button or something to press to swap the screen orientation in space. Cause I always thought the ipad would be the best computer to take up on space flights so groups like NASA and others could have their technical data on hand when they need it.

A simple fix and a necessary one I would think.

Lame..:) Since most accelerometer work with a tiny ball moving back and forth inside a tube to determine orientation..no gravity means no ball movement..

If you need to change orientations in space, you should be able to just jerk it rapidly in the direction you want "up" to be, and then hit the lock switch.

Too many...
Two things:
1. I thought they would probably have their own devices!?
2. I think this is more of a problem with space than the actual ipad. Lot's of things don't work in space the way they are designed to work on earth…you know, a place that has gravity!

Oh it would probably work on the moon. Just not on the trip there.

Oh, they finally got gravity on the Moon? It's about time it caught up with the Earth. ;D

Yep it took a while for the Moon men to drill through the cheese the Moon is made of and add a gravity generator. A hard job for them but they finally did it :).
