    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. Hello all!

I have an iMac 2.4 GHz Intel and the internal DVD drive bit the dust. I bought a LG external multi drive and plugged it in (USB 2.0). The drive recognized music CDs and DVDs but the program DVD Player would not play the DVD. I searched around a bit and there have been comments that DVD Player only works for internal DVD drives.

Is this true? If so, is there another program out there that I can use to play my DVDs?

Thanks!

No go...

VLC didn't work. I installed it, went to open disc, chose DVD, and I got an error:

Your input can't be opened
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvdnav:///dev/rdisk1'. Check the log for details.

...and the log states...

dvdnav warning: cannot open dvdnav
main warning: no access_demux module matching "dvdnav" could be loaded
main debug: TIMER module_need() : 26.875 ms - Total 26.875 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 26.875 ms)

Any other ideas???
