Scan an installation file?

Hey guys, I have d/l a program installation file.

Is there anything/anyway to scan it for nasties before I install it on my mac?

Uh.if it's so secretive..you probably got it form a KNOWN place..so shouldn't you be asking them if everything is kosher with the file?

Yeah, I maybe even got it FROM a known place. Who knows.

Thought it a simple question, perhaps not.

So you don't tell us WHAT kind of installation file you've downloaded, from where you've gotten it, how can you expect any useful answer?

Most people on the Mac do not run a virus scanner, so what exactly were you planning on doing if we did ask you to scan it??

It's pretty clear that it's pirated software; if it was legit, he'd tell us.

So there is definitely a risk that it contains a trojan; there's no real way to tell. If you're stealing software, you take the risks that come with it.
