Very frustrating.
My iPad still does not work on 3G. It says 'Orange' with a full signal, but no '3G' or 'E' or the little circle and it doesn't actually connect to anything.
The setup in iTunes happened in the Apple store, as part of the personal setup service. Since then, I called the number for Orange and gave the details, although oddly enough they didn't ask for the IMEI number. However, they took the Serial Number of the iPad, plus the phone number and SIM number and assured me it would be setup. They said there might be some delay, but this was Monday.
So I decided I would call again. Their website is useless, so I collected together all the numbers they might ask for, including finding the package the SIM came in from the iPad box. All ready.
I called the number - 'This office is now closed. Our hours are 08:00 to 22:00'
I looked at the clock - 22:04
Remember when Michael Douglas' character asked for Breakfast and was told they stopped serving breakfast only a minute or so ago? Now I know how he felt.
If I had just phoned and then when they asked for the SIM number said 'hang on a minute, I have to find the package it arrived in', I would have got through. No - I had to prepare everything first
Even more fun - I tried to sign up online in 'Your Account' - Enter your phone number and we will send you a code number by SMS.
1. How can they do that when it isn't working yet?
2. There is no signal here at Home so I wouldn't receive it
3. AFAIK, an iPad might in theory have a phone number but it doesn't send or receive either phone calls or SMS. Am I correct there?
Anyone in UK got the iPad working on Orange please - especially if you bought the iPad and the SIM via Apple, not from Orange?
Edit - This should probably be under iPad hardware rather than iPad Apps please.
