Hi
I am using OS 10.4.11 on a G4 iMac and WiFi is via a Linksys WAG160N router.
Which wireless network adaptor is compatible?
Thanks in advance :Smirk:

Why not just use Apple's Airport wireless hardware rather than a wireless USB device. Most of the USB devices don't work well anyway.

I do not have an integrated Airport card so what external device should I buy for the fastest internet speed? I don to want to spend a lot of money as I am soon to upgrade to a Mac Book. Thanks.

Like I said...most USB wireless devices don't work very well (if at all)...so I wouldn't recommend any. That's why going with the original Airport card is the best choice for wireless networking. You can get a used Airport card on e-Bay for about $20 bucks.

The Airport card is NOT integrated. It's a card that can be installed or removed.

Just so you know...there are two types of Airport cards. The older Airport "b" card, and the newer & smaller Airport Extreme "b/g" card. You need the Airport Extreme card for your iMac G4...which looks like the photo below. You do not need anything else other than a good set of instructions on how to install it.

Good luck,

- Nick

p.s. Here's an installation guide for the Airport card in an iMac G4. This shows how to install the older & larger Airport "b" card...I think the install is similar for the Airport Extreme "g" card.

The iMac is a G4/800 and from the research I have done I am pretty sure it will not support Airport extreme.
Thanks again

Sorry...I got your iMac G4 confused with another thread. I thought you had an 1.25ghz model. Since you have the 800mhz iMac G4...you need the original Airport card pictured below. All other info still applies.
