mini dvi to hdmi

hello i am new here,i have problem connect my macbook with tv,
i bought adaptor mini dvi to hdmi ,i use xp windows . my tv is sony kdl 40 full hd,when i connect it i see no view on tv only black screen(sorry for my english)
mayde problem is XP ?

I actually had the same TV a while back, a kdl 40 inch 1080p. It connected to my Windows PC Laptop just fine. Did you look in the display options on your Operating System to see if it recognized the television. Also double check your input, I know my TV had 8 inputs...easy to get confused. Good Luck
