Cant turn airport on!

Hey,
i use osx 10.5.8 and cant turn airport on (in the morning it was working...)
i tried restarting, deleting preferences.plist etc; creating new service) but its not working...
any suggestions?

Open your System Profiler: Applications -> Utilities -> System Profiler.app and scroll to "Network". Click the down arrow... highlight Airport. What does it show?

Do as suggested and be aware that Airport cards do fail alas.
