I bought a refurb MacBook through the Apple Store a few weeks ago. Shipping was blindingly fast, and the computer was absolutely immaculate. I'v been almost exclusively using the 'Book since I got it, and it's been great. I, personally, can't recommend the refurb service highly enough.

I've bought a refurb iPod and MBP 13" from Apple. Both were in immaculate condition, no blemishes or scratches. But you will only save about $100 after taxes compared to getting a new one online. Only way to tell between a refurb and a new one is the serial number.
