Buying a replacment Macbook Pro battery on Ebay

Hi everyone,

My battery has recently swollen and is not covered by warranty.

Im just wondering if anyone has bought a 17 inch Macbook battery off ebay and what are the pros and cons of this?

In a word, don't. Many of the batteries sold on ebay are inexpensive imitations that may prematurely fail or even do damage to your machine.
Buy a battery from either Apple or an authorized Mac reseller and parts distributor. Check with OWC, they sell genuine replacement batteries.

Batteries and USB thumb drives are clearly difficult purchases on EBay. Indeed, it is common to receive a weak or useless counterfeit (though I did have luck with a video camera battery, but it was a known firm).
