anyway to change the speed at which apple mail checks for mail?

Im using an Imap server with Gmail but it seems whenever i instantly receive a mail on Gmail it never seems to appear on my imac untill i get get mail or wait 5 minutes for it to come through its self.

Any idea guys? Thanks!! Love macs

open mail.app / pref /general /check mail and choose every minute
