Reinstalling Leopard on a eMac.

Hello,

I have been given 1.42GHz eMac. It has OS 10.5.8 Leopard on it at the moment. As it came with no disks. Can I use my Leopard installation disk that came with my Intel based MacBook or does it have to a PPC version?

If they are the grey disks you are talking about, then no, it will not work, those only work with the Mac they came with.

You need a full retail install DVD version of the software, a black coloured DVD, which sells second hand for over $100.00. The system discs from your MB will not work.

[Eyes green with envy ] .... You are one lucky guy. Make the most of that eMac, it was the very best of them, no capacitor problems.

More than two months ago now, someone posted that he/she purchased a Leopard retail disc from Apple for $80 US. But, you have to call the toll free online Apple Store number to order it. The poster advised to "kill them with kindness" if they hedge. But, by now, they could actually be out. If you call, let us know how you make out.
