Well, in the final episode, when James met up with Juliet in the hospital, were they alive or dead at this point?

They were already dead......

In my mind the whole 'alternative world' where the plane didn't crash was a halfway-house between (for want of other words) real life and 'heaven'. It was created by all those in the church at the end as place they could resolve issues (once they had died) before moving on. It's a timeless place, so although everyone there died at different times and places that doesn't matter they were all still there at the same time.

Everything outside of this alternative world, as Christian points out, was real.

Well.... that's my take on it anyway......

mrplow, thank you for your reply, well, we learned about everything. I don't think they set out and straight up answered questions, but they left things feeling resolved. Anyway, thank you so much. LOL

Well said. Perfect synopsis. Parallel world is limbo. The part I really dug was when Hugo picked up Desmond, Sayed and Kate from Anna Lucia's custody. It confused me a bit, but now understand that since she was killed on the Island, her soul refused to let go yet, hence why Desmond (or was it Hugo) said "she's not ready yet". She hadn't yet come to terms with what happened, and was still creating a life around her in limbo.

That makes me wonder a lot about several back episodes where Hugo was talking to the dead.

Honestly I was disappointed by the ending.
