I just stumbled on this website for iPad wallpapers

They have some really nice stuff. And the list is growing. They also have iPhone wallpapers amongst other thing.

those are good for artwork kind of people bro. dont hate because he has different taste from other people. what he thinks may be awesome to him and some people and some ppl might hate it. but those are good wallpapers! not bad

The iTunes has pretty awesome wallpapers. Just do a search on "wallpaper" and there are at least three free apps which you can download.

Personally, I love landscape photos. I go to National Geographic which (of course) has very awesome photos to download as wallpaper.
