I have noticed a HUGE difference when connecting to the internet via my home wireless network between my MacBook Pro and Toshiba laptop.
Done side by side comparisons (physically) having both laptops accessing the internet thru a wireless NETGEAR RangeMax gigabit router. The Toshiba laptop will always access the same web site much faster than the Mac.
Next I went to 2 different site to check "ISP speed". Again, having both computers located at the same physical distance from router and running the "speed test" as the same time the Toshiba results for upload/download are on average 2.5 to 3X faster than the Mac.
Finally, I have noticed a degradation in wireless performance in the Mac over the last 3 months prior to running any of these tests.
The hardware is as follows:
17" MacBook Pro (purchased 2007)
Mac OS X V10.4.11
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Airport Extreme Wireless Card
Toshiba Satellite A305
Windows Vista
1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM
Intel PROSet Wireless
NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless Gigabit Router.
Any suggestions???? Is my card getting "old"????
THANKS!
Tom
