I need to use Visual Basic for Excel, and from what I can tell (and what I have read) Visual Basic is not supported for Excel for Mac...but a new version will support it? I've heard of people using applescript as a substitute. Can somebody please enlighten me? I would hate to have to use Windows just to use Visual Basic on Excel.

Break out your Windows disk then.... because MS Office 2008 does not support VB (thanks MS), hence, no macros. (MS Office 2004 does support VB.) Yes, you can use Apple script but it's not the same and IMO, does not work well.

The next version of MS Office (2011) should be on the market sometime this Fall. MS promises VB is back along with some other nice additions. We'll just have to wait until then.

Regards.

If you need it sooner, Office 204 does support VBA, but you'd have to find a used copy since it's not sold by MS anymore.

Ouch. I just installed office on Windows running through VMWare Fusion. This is painful. MS is doing their best to force Mac users to use Windows for business applications.

Also, with Office 2004, it uses VB 5 which is the same as using MS Office 97. Office 2000/2002/2003 on Windows uses VB 6. So as long as whatever is done on the Windows side is compatible with Office 97, then it should work in Mac Office 2004.
