In system preferences, I have the security setting to log off after 30 minutes of inactivity but it will not work. It works at 5 minutes but not 30 minutes. Has anyone had this problem or have a fix?

Thanks

Check that Sleep is set to occur after 30 minutes. Also, check that the option for locking the computer when screensaver or display sleep is not activated before the computer logs off. And since you have it set to log off after so many minutes of inactivity, this option should not be activated.

Check activity

Open console and snoop around. Look for something that would reset the inactivity timer.
You might set the log out for five minutes, then check the logs. Then set it to longer periods and keep checking until you see what reset the inactivity timer.
You might also note other activity that you want to cancel, such as google software updates that can be a constant system drain.
Good luck!
