Basically im trying to get my tethering to work with my iPhone and my MBP but i can't seem to get the iphone to connect to the MBP over bluetooth.. i know i can do it with the usb connector but I know i should be able to do it over bluetooth, as i have successfully done it before.

This is what I did.

Turn Bluetooth [ON] on both your Mac and iPhone and pair the two devices. You'll get the code on your mac screen and a pop up on your iPhone, confirm both and both devices should now be paired but not connected.

Switch tethering [ON] on your iPhone and make sure bluetooth is still on. On your Mac, either in the bluetooth menubar icon or in bluetooth prefrences click on [Connect to Network] and it should connect to your iPhone and tethering should enable.

Let me know if that works for you.

That worked, after a couple of attempts. Seems to be very unreliable. Thanks though! :)

What OS version are you on? Because it's claimed to be fixed in the latest (10.6.3).

I just have a 3G..... got it 3 months ago..... MacBook finds iPhone but not the later with the former. MacBook does not 'connect to network' accordingly.

I just keep Bluetooth switched off now for battery life.
