Applescript and Ubuntu .. can it work?

So I'm a mac user and I love it. I've been writing scripts (using AppleScript) for a while to do all kinds of things. I have a bunch saved that would be more useful on a server. Unfortunately, my budget (of absolutely zero dollars) won't allow for me to buy a mac to have as a server. I do however have an old Dell running an Ubuntu Server. Here's my question:

Is there a way to make the AppleScripts run in Ubuntu? If not, is there something that would port it over for me?
