I'm trying to decide whether to get a MacBook or MacBook Pro. I'll be in college soon, studying math and science subjects, so any of the really advanved art, music, video, etc. capabilities would be wasted on me. Looks like at 13" and identical processors, RAM, and hard drives, the pro would run about 100 bucks more. Any advantages with the pro other than the looks? Thanks.

Apple has just updated the white MacBook plastic (polymer) machine. Go to the online store and read up on the specs. It may be all you need. It's also less expensive.

Regards.

whitebook has 2GB of ram, MBP has 4GB. (base vs base)
MBP also has back lit keys and firewire. i was contemplating between the two very recently (after the whitebook update), and have decided to get the MBP.

Honestly, save yourself $200 and put it towards something else like a laptop case, or a laptop stand, or bluetooth mouse and keyboard. With tax, the Macbook is $1100 and the MBP is $1300. I doubt you'd get any serious use out of the Firewire port, and while the backlit keyboard is nice, it's up to you as to whether or not you'll truly need it. Or.. if you're really vain and don't like white and would rather have an aluminum body, that's your choice too.

Personally speaking, if i had to do it over again, I'd get the MacBook instead of the MBP if I was going to get the 13". But next time, I'm staying away from anything with a glossy screen and like 15" more than 13" anyway. Also remember, if you want/need more memory you can get it a lot cheaper from Newegg than from Apple.
