Hey Gang,
I have an iMac with 700Mhz PowerPC G4 and just bumped the RAM to 1Gb. I'm currently running OS X 10.3.9. I don't believe the processor can be upgraded without being a certified technician, if at all.

What is the maximum OS X I can run on this Mac?

Thanks,
Anthony

You are correct...the processor in your iMac cannot be upgraded. The max OS version this iMac can use is OS 10.4.11.

Thanks Nick! Most appreciated!!

You're welcome. Now if you are trying to source an OS 10.4 install disk...you may be a bit surprised at how much they cost!:(

Really Anthony?

For heaven 's sake DO NOT BUY a silver grey disc, marketed as upgrade, drop in, update, system and a host of other names on eBay. The silver grey discs are extremely model specific and will not work, Look for a full retail install DVD, must be black.

The cost will be in excess of $100.00!

With those specs and low memory, consider staying with Panther.

Harry,
I found full install black discs for 10.4.11. I can't use an upgrade cuz I'm currently running 10.3.9.

Less expensive would be NOT retail for an OLDER os x software. And less than $100.00.
