i was just wondering how iPhoto stores it's library. If i have a folder of pictures (on my desktop, or somewhere on my hd) and i import the images into iPhoto, do i now have copies on the images on my hd? basically, are the images stored twice taking up double the hd drive space?

Yes. The images are all now stored in the iPhoto Library database file in your Pictures folder. You can safely delete the originals.

And just incase it comes up -when you drag a picture onto your desktop that's also a copy.
