hey i just bought a use 15in macbook pro and i want to restore it to new. it did not come with the cd but my friends has the 13in macbook pro system restore cd, is there any difference if i use that cd other than the one for the 15in mac.

You can not use your friend's DVD to restore your machine because the DVD sets of OS X are machine specific and his will not work on your machine.
You need to buy a copy of OS X. Call Apple support and give them your model number and ask them to send you the original install recovery set for your machine. I'm not sure how much they will charge but it shouldn't be expensive. You could also buy the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 boxed set from Apple.
