I'm getting ready to switch to a ibook with the combo drive. I had to sell most of my PC to get the ibook so I can no longer backup there.

I tried doing a couple searches but turned nothing up. Are there any great programs for backing up DVD's? What I used on the PC was DVD shrink to decode and shrink the DVD for later burning.

Anything out there that would work for what I want, and is used easily as well?

And I don't know if there are any legal rules/regs on these specific forums, but Ill put this in anyways, all my DVD backups are from legit dvds I own :p

Hope you mean SuperDrive? Combo drives only play DVDs, not burn them.

By far the best app I have found is Fast DVD Copy. I use v.3, but v.4 is out now.It works in a very similar way to DVD Shrink, which you'll like.

I use mactheripper to rip, dvd2onex to compress, and toast to burn.

I'll have an external DVD burner to burn with. You can do this right? Hopefully because I plan on upgrading this burner to a dual layer soon.

If they are movie to movie dvd's you may consider popcorn from roxio. It's simple stupid. However you'll need mactheripper to remove the css and such.
