13" MBP HDD Help?

Hello, I have a new 13" MBP and I want to put a HDD in it for storage, it already has a SSD in it. Can I use any 2.5 HDD or does it have to be a specific one? Thanks

I'm assuming you mean you wish to remove the SSD and replace it with a larger hard drive? You can use any good quality SATA 2.5" notebook drive. Be careful of the height though... has to be 9.5 MM.

Go to the OWC web site and look around. They're Mac specialists and carry only the best in hardware.

I ordered it with a 128GB SSD, I was told I could put another 2.5" HDD in for storage, I'm pretty sure it just sits next to the SSD because there's no optical drive.

Not looking to replace the SSD, that will be for the OS and a few programs

There is no room in the current 13" Macbook for another drive, and there is a slot load optical drive.

I saw the other day that someone installed the WD 1TB 12.5mm drive into a new Macbook and it fit fine. Must be enough of a bubble in the case to allow for the extra room. I would love to know for sure without buying it first.

I just swapped out my 250GB for a WD 1TB in my 13 macbook pro. It's working like a charm.

Unless you took out the optical drive then yes there is one. Only the MacBook Air doesn't come with an optical drive. It's a slot loading drive and you are not the first person to think there is no optical drive. I've had a lot of my Windows friends make the same mistake. A lot of Windows laptops have tray type optical drives instead of Apple's preference for slot loading types.

You can add an additional internal hard drive if you do take out the optical drive but it's not officially supported by Apple so it will void your warranty. There is no extra room if you don't take out something.
