Disk Utility comes free and can do most of the basic maintenance tasks

If its a more comprehensive paid solution you are after then the Apple stores use Drive Genius for troubleshooting disks

If you wish to go top shelf, then Disk Warrior arguably leads the pack. But it's expensive.

I've always used TechTool, and now TechTool Pro. But, I'm increasingly wondering if it's worth the trouble of testing regularly since nothing is ever wrong. Such a problem!!

I am a big fan of Disk Warrior and have used it on various Macs since the clamshell iBook days. It's great at what it does, namely repairing/rebuilding damaged drive directories, but it is a one trick pony of sorts. I have seen it repair damage other utilities couldn't touch but it is not a very versatile program and isn't really a general drive maintenance utility.

If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

All these disk maintenance apps that never seems to do anything.

Just have a decent working ethic and the rest should look after its self.
