What are some of the possible causes of KERNAL PANIC

in a 15" 2.2 mbp running 10.6.3 ?

Is it ALWAYS the logic board or can this be the result of a hard drive problem ?

Kernel panics are caused by a number of things. Hardware is usually suspect, but also bad or misbehaving software can do the same thing. If your machine is getting constant kernel panics (won't boot at all, not even in safe mode) then you can probably suspect a hardware problem.
