It's been about two weeks now, my mac has gone AWOL.

It doesn't matter what internet browser I use (safari, chrome, or firefox), whenever I go to a site, it is automatically downloaded. When I close the download box, the internet window closes as well. Does that mean I have a virus? How do I fix it? Please, any solutions will be of great help. (I have shed tears over this. My mac is my life.)

What Mac? What version of OS X? What did you install recently that began causing this to happen? Have you un-installed and re-installed Firefox and Chrome to see if the issue persists? What is downloaded when you visit a site?

Regards

2 things come to my mind...

1. The OP installed some app that is causing this (whatever "this" is).

Well if this is true it's the first time I've ever heard of this happening on a Mac.

We have, I don't think that there is any way that something can wreck havoc to 3 different browsers.

It's been about two weeks now, my mac has gone AWOL. Did you put out an APB on it?

It doesn't matter what internet browser I use (safari, chrome, or firefox), whenever I go to a site, it is automatically downloaded. That's what a Mac does, it's not Windows.

When I close the download box, the internet window closes as well. Don't do that!

Does that mean I have a virus? Yes, one of thousands for the Mac, none of which are known.

How do I fix it? Cancel the APB, you'll be better off without it.

Please, any solutions will be of great help. (I have shed tears over this. My mac is my life.) Kleenex.

Hope that helps!
