I just bought a keyboard cover for my mbp. It sounds like a good idea but just heard that it can cause the mbp to overheat...apparently the openings around the keys are the only vents in the case and must be left open?

The Apple store recommends the keyboard cover but now I'm hearing this...anyone have any input on this?

The keyboard is not the only area where heat can convect upward and out. If you put your hand close to the area behind the keyboard where the display meets the bottom and around the hinge, you'll feel heat rising. Also the entire case (aluminum) of the MBP acts like a heat convector. Should be no problem using a keyboard cover. I personally don't like them but that's probably just me.

Regards.
