I currently own the least powerful Mac Mini on the market. In fact, I can't even find it on the market anymore! Consequently, I want to upgrade this ancient brick.
It has 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB 667mhz DDR2 SDRAM (Two 512mb cards), and that's about all I know. I want to replace the two 512mb cards with 2gig cards, but I'm not sure if the Motherboard can handle this. Does anyone know if I should have a problem doing this? Thanks,

Actually you don't have the least powerful Mac-Mini on the Market!;)

- The least powerful Mac-Mini is the 1.25ghz G4 Mac-Mini from 2005.
- Then the 1.42ghz G4 Mac-Mini
- Then the 1.5ghz G4 Mac-Mini
- Then the least powerful Intel-based Mac-Mini from 2006...which is a 1.5ghz "Core Solo" model.
- Then the 1.66ghz "Core Solo" Mac-Mini (2006/2007)
- Then the 1.83ghz "Core Duo" Mac-Mini (2006/2007)
- Then the 1.83ghz "Core 2 Duo" Mac-Mini (2007-2009)

So as you can see you do not have the "least powerful Mac-Mini on the market"!!! You actually have the 7th least powerful Mac-Mini on the market...so that's hardy even worth mentioning!

As far as your question...the 1.83ghz "Core 2 Duo" Mac-Mini has a max. ram limit of 3 gigabytes. So you would need one 2gig stick & one 1gig stick of ram...for a total of 3 gig.

Hope this helps,

- Nick

Whoops! Forgive my ignorance; I should've done a little more research before I said that.
Allrighty, a 2gb card and a 1gb card, sounds simple enough! Thanks a lot for your help.
