PowerMac G4 hard drive type

Ok,
I bought a PowerMac G4 M8493. It didn't come with a hard drive and I was reading around and it said that it uses an ultra ata. Anyone know if that's a special type of connection for a different type of hard drive? I'm really not sure. thanks

It's the older standard for hard drives also known as "PATA". Make sure when you purchase a drive that it's not "SATA". Nowadays ultra ATA or PATA drives are getting harder to find and they tend to be more expensive than SATA drives.

I believe OWC still stocks them.

As the model number is assigned to both 2001 and 2002 Quicksilver machines, it should handle a PATA, or IDE also known as an EIDE Ultra ATA over the 128GB limit.

Yes and WD make reliable HDD. Also it is a 7200RPM drive, much faster than the original 5400 RPM drive.
