Free video converter?

Hey everyone,

Just joined the site today and have already found a lot of useful information

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good video converter? Previously, on my PC, i was using mkv to vob but unfortunately they have not written a version compatible with OS X. I am running snow leopard.

Any help much appreciated!
