No screen, strange sounds (twilight macbook)

I have a big problem with my Mac Book pro (purchased September 2008):

When I press the Power Button, this happens: screen stays black, white button which opens the book lights up white for a few seconds and then a strange beep ends the entire proces and kills the power.

I have tried everything and looked at the threat (which was very good btw) that stated some problems, but nothing helps? Any ideas/tips, or should I just bring it to Apple Care?
