question 30" cinema display connectability.

i'm going to be acquiring a 30" Apple cinema display soon, and i'd love to know if there's a way to hook it up to both a Macbook Pro and a Windows PC and be able to switch between both machines on the same monitor (ie, the mini DVI end of the display's cable to the MBP, and the USB end of the display's cable to the Windows machine. if there's a USB-to-DVI adapter in existence, even better.)

No, you're not going to get video in through the USB port of the display.

You could look for a DVI KVM switch. The only problem is that most of the DVI switches have a limited resolution... Like maybe 1024 x768. Not going to look that great on that monitor at all.

Actually, here's one I found that supports 1600x1200. Doubt you'll find one much better. But that's what you're looking for.

if i end up getting one to use the 30" monitor with both machines, will the 1600x1200 max resolution apply to both machines? because it would be a shame to only have 1600x1200 with the MBP.

The max resolution is the max resolution. It will apply to anything that goes through the switch.
