Changes Lost in Images with .DNG extension (when imported back to iPhoto)

Hello all,

I am using iPhoto as my library for my camera's raw images (NEF extensions). Prior to editing/processing pictures, I export these raw images to a folder outside of the iPhoto library. Then open these raw images using Photoshop CS4 Bridge and do my tweaking. Afterwhich, I saved these processed images as a .DNG extension to the same folder.

But I imported back these images with the .DNG extension into my iPhoto library, the changes that I made were lost

Am I missing something.
