Hello all, I need help with switching calendar programs. My ical has a major glitch in it - it will not allow me to advance past October this year. When I get to October all the calendars go blank and I cannot move backward nor forward. I can't find any help anywhere including here. So I have decided to try something like google calendar or something else? Can anyone give me a suggestion on a calendar programs that I can use to sync with my iphone? I love all the basic features of ical - too bad I can't get it to work correctly - it does everything I need it to do. Thanks for your suggestions. R.

Try BusyCal here - it has more features altho it does rely on some of the iCal files - so if u have a corruption there it may transfer to BusyCal. Might be worth Troubleshooting iCal first. Try dragging .plist onto desktop and relaunching to see if it works.

You can use Google Calendar and sync it with your iPhone. Instructions here.

Did anyone suggest replacing iCal's plist file?

Found here in OS 10.5
HD/Users/YoiurUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist

Move it to the Desktop, then start up iCal. That makes a new default plist file.
If better, delete the file from the Desktop.
If worse, put the file back. It will ask if you want to overwrite the new one.

Mine advances way past there, I got to January 2017 before I got tired of clicking and it all worked fine. Maybe a bad install? Make sure its all updated

Can I reinstall ical?

I tried moving .plist to the desktop - did not work.
I have tried all updates - nothing still.

Can I reinstall ical somehow from my installation discs?

With Pacifist, you can extract iCal from your discs. I think it's a free download, or at least has a free trial period.

iCal works perfectly for me. Programs pick up bugs once in awhile. None are immune. The grass may not be greener with something else. If you can fix iCal, it just might work perfectly for the next ten years.
