help... iphone in voiceover mode & touch pad is not responding

i switched my new iphone to voiceover mode and now it is stuck in this mode and my touch pad is not responding

simple option to fix it is go through itunes, sync phone and do a system restore

however I am waiting for my new macbookpro to arrive which is delayed because volcanic ash has delayed shipments to ireland.

i do not want to do a system restore as i have a number of expensive textbooks apps on phone that I have not synced with itunes

is there a way around this without doing a system restore

voice over has hi-jacked my phone

Solved this with trial and error (as opposed to logic, intelligence or art).

I was needing to enter my pass code (1 - 2 - 3 - 4) so what i did was:
- touch the "1"
- when you get the voice over saying "one, A, B, C"
- then double tap the "1"
The first box in the passcode should fill in.

Then repeat for the rest of the pass code, note that it is very easy to tap like mad on the "1", but you may inadvertantly put in a pass code of 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 and get a password fail.
