A substitute for Adobe Electronic Edition?

Hi, I'm new here. I did some searching but couldn't find anything about this so forgive me if this is old news.

We have several electronic copies of codes from a national organization that seem to require something I think is called Adobe Electronic Edition in order to read/access. When I open them with Preview I get the viewer and the right page count but the pages are blank and the sidebar is hieroglyphics.

I really would like to avoid putting this back on my Mac if possible. Do you know of something I could get written for Macs that allows me to read these files?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Certain PDF files are designed in such a way so that they can only be opened and read by the Adobe Reader. If PreView does not show the content, then that may be the reason. Download and install the Adobe Reader. It's free.

Regards.

Thanks, I was afraid this was the case. I previously had adobe digital editions and had lots of problems with it so I removed it, thus my question.

If this is the only option so be it.

Thanks again,
matt
