I am thinking of upgrading my ram on my MacPro and using it to run several VMfusion partitions. My question is, how many can I run on a mac pro with 10 gigs of ram? My initial thought is to create each of them to run 2gigs, so therefore I would run 4 of them and leave 2 gigs of ram for my OSx. Any thoughts?

You have answered your own question, as long as you have enough RAM and hard disk space it will run as many as you have resources for

please be aware that virtualisation has a certain memory overhead.

according to my tests on a Mini, Fusion added about 300MB to my 512MB virtual machines, while Parallels added about 60MB to the same configuration.

I do not know if this overhead is static or varies with virtual machine memory, so don't compute memory usage too tight.

Liviu
