iMac 27 i7 2TB 16GB
External hard drive not mounting.
Working fine this morning. (Lacie 1TB HDT72101)
Running on iMac 27 i7 (2TB 16GB) with firmware update
Drive not showing in finder, used disk utility to find HD and ran verify and repair...says all working fine. When I go to 'mount' the disk it says

'Mount Failed'
The disk “BACKUP” could not be mounted.
Try running First Aid on the disk and then retry mounting.

Returned to first aid and ran through again.

Unable to connect to the laptop either (again working fin this morning)

Installed firmware update, shut down computer, disconnected hard drive, left for an hour and restarted the process with no luck

Welcome to the Forum.
So are you saying it was Ok until you installed the Firmware update?
Have you tried repairing Permissions?
