Hey guys, I have a problem. I was having problems with my screen shot and somebody suggested it type the following in my terminal:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true; killall Finder

Once I did this, all of my icons got lighter. The command is supposed to show all hidden files, which it did, and i was told to type this again to hide them. The problem is, it is not hiding them again. All my icons are lighter and it's really annoying. Everything works the same but it looks like crap and it's a little confusing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Oh yeah, I'm running OS 10.4.11

You can download and run MainMenu.

Apart from being a great maintenance app it allows you to toggle show/hide hidden files from a menu in the menu bar

MainMenu | Keep your Mac in shape

or simply run the terminal command with False

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder

Adding to louishen's advice, if you still have no joy try getting rid of the dock .plist home>library>preferences>com.apple.dock.plist and put it on your desktop. Then log out and in and see what you get ...

Cheers
