can i watch my tv on my computer?

hi

the lamp in my hdtv recently went down, i have a dsktop mac, and i was wondering if there was anyway to watch my tv through my mac, i live in canada(shaw cable) and have a shaw digital pvr, just wondering if i could esentially connect either my tv moniter to my computer or the shaw box to my computer and use my desktop moniter as my tv?? thanks

thanks for those suggestions, as i said i want to connect the two witha cable, i will be getting a new lamp and just want something temporarily, spending 150 bux on a tv tuner isnt an option, thats how much the new bulb will cost anyway, haha, so i guess the answer is no
