Greetings all! I'm an IT professional who knows windows and linux pretty well, but is just getting started on macs. My question is: In Windows if you replace a motherboard, windows requires you to re-register with microsoft, because it detects a different motherboard serial number and simply assumes that Windows has been copied and stolen.

My girlfriend/fiance is facing the death of her logic board, and my question is, would me buying and installing a replacement cause problems on OS X (like it does for windows)?

Thanks for your time and thanks in advance for your answers!

Mac OS X does not use the activation BS that Windows uses. Replacing the logic board should be no problem.
