This is a little worrisome for me.

Apple has been slipping on the quality level of their desktop and notebook products. That and this news tells me that Apple is dedicating fewer and fewer resources to those product lines. Things will only get worse if they continue down this path.

This is a rather big hit for Mac software creators, especially small companies and enthusiast groups. Some motivation can be easily lost when they see that their product can never even be nominated for this Apple's version of the Oscar awards.

But this can't be seen as a direct message that things will get worse for Apple Mac platforms, it merely shows that at this point of time Apple wants to shift the dev's attention to iPhone OS. The future can't be foretold simply froma small fact like this.
