I'm new to the iBook. My sister gave me her old G3 and the hard drive was physically damaged so I need to replace it. I already have it removed from the iBook and need to know if I can use any ATA/IDE HD replacement or do I absolutely have to use an Apple HD? I have all of the discs needed to do a clean install.

I think you can use any HDD really, it doesn't have to be Apple branded/recommended, just make sure it works with the iBook and make sure you format it to the right file system in Disk Utilities on the install disc.

The A1007 iBook uses a 2.5" Ultra-ATA hard drive.

Any recommendations on a replacement. My original hard drive was only 30gb and I'm pretty sure I could upgrade to something much bigger than that. If possible, please include a link to your recommendation. Thanks.
