Boot Camp troubles (VERY SERIOUS)

I don't know if I am in the right section but I really need help with my Mac!

I tried to install Windows XP Professional onto my MacBook, I used Boot Camp. And then it restarted and I needed to go back to Mac for a minute, so I pressed Option (Alt)

Then when it supposed to say Mac OS X or something like that on a disk drive icon or something, IT SAID WINDOWS and on the other side of it, it said Windows also!

So now I can't go back to my Mac, I need help NOW. Someone please reply to me as soon as they can!

Been seeing a lot of these posts lately..most likely you installed WinXP over the OS X partition..hopefully you made a backup of your data before you tried to do the installation..if not..tread lightly to recover your files.

Sounds to me like you didn't print out and follow the BootCamp instructions and accidentally installed Windows onto your OS X partition instead of onto the BootCamp partition. That's a real drag and I feel for ya. Most of us that have been on computers long enough have done something similar at some point in time.

Do you have a backup? If so, it's time to put in your OS X disc and reinstall or boot to your back up and restore.

No backup... Well, I sort of doubt you're going to salvage any data, but there are a couple of options.

1. Spend a couple of hundred and get yourself an external hard drive and one of those apps that claim to recover data.

2. Spend a couple of thousand and send the drive off to specialists to let them see how much data they can recover.

Neither of the above offer any guarantees after you've spent the money.

The third is to just boot from your OS X disc, wipe the drive, restore it to a single partition and do a clean install.

okay so now I have to spend either couple thousand or hundred trying to get back my memory. What if I just install the disks that came with my Mac. I tried installing disk 1 but it said that I had to clean it, I didn't do it yet though, but I am trying to find disk #2 so if I had the 2 disks can I just re-install Mac OS X?

As bobtomay advises above, use your original install DVD to boot the machine, partition, format, and install OS X. And yes, you need both disks if you want to reinstall iLife and other applications in addition to the OS.

...now I just have to find disk #2...
