I've had my iMac for 6 days now and have noticed a slight noise that sounds like a heartbeat...it's not coming from the speakers. Anything to be concerned about??

Where exactly is the noise coming from? The iMac does have the HDD inside..and so that might be just ticking at routine intervals causing this noise..

Regards

I had the same problem with mine, or at least it sounds like it. My noise was a kind of rhythmic beating coming from the lower let corner (near the power button on the back). I went ahead and returned mine since it was only a few days old, AppleCare said it was probably a problem with the power supply.

Just so you know, if you think you want to return it, do it within 14 days or apple won't let you. They said my only option was to get it repaired, but since it was only week old I just told them I wanted to use the 14 day return period.

If it only happens when you come near the Mac, then you're the cause. It either is afraid of what you might do to it, or it loves you.

Um, yeah, go back to the store...

I'm going to call the store today. I haven't installed anything except printer and Airport software. This would probably be a good time to have files moved also.

have you killed anyone recently?

been reading too much Poe?

I'm afraid remorse for brutal deeds committed is not covered by applecare.

My hands are un-sullied...for now. I took it in and the guy at the store said he'd just replace it. The new Mac does the same thing so I'm going to call it normal. I'm having some issues getting my Canon MX870 running wirelessly but I have received some suggestions in another thread. I just have to get the time to call Canon when they are open.
