If you're into comics, then be sure to get the Marvel Comics app

So far...

Free - not in any order

iVerse - For a single comic app - 21 companies represented including Marvel, Archie, IDW, Red 5, Ardden, Boom, Dabel Bro's, Dynamite, etc. (Not all the individual comics have been updated for the iPad yet, but any that have are here it looks like.)

Kindle & iBooks are the best - I also have B&N, eReader, Classics, Stanza

Zinio - even though it takes 2 seconds to focus each turn of the page in every magazine - it does make you slow down instead of just rushing through your favorite mag

Epicurious

the Guardian Eyewitness - if you like pictures - thanks Apt

EW's Must List - Entertainment Weekly with movies, TV, Music, Books, Games, Etc.

Portugal by - just some pictures by a few of their local photographers, but pretty nice to check out

Yahoo Entertainment - featuring the comics of Wizard of Id, Shoe, Peanuts, Marmaduke, Doonesbury, Garfield...

The Weather Channel Max - WeatherBug is nice also, but doesn't compare

ABC & Netflix (when it's not crashing the whole system)

NPR

Thanks for those suggestions bob! I added them to the list of apps I've already downloaded in anticipation of the arrival of my iPad 3G (currently at 18 iPad apps, 26 in total) :)

I would instead recommend Remote Desktop and simply use it as a monitor and mouse for your main computer when accessing Marvel's comics. If you subscribe to Marvel's Digital Comics Unlimited you gain access to a library with over 7,000 titles.

Is Scrabble fun playing by yourself? It seems like the game thats only fun with other friends. I was thinking of getting it but i thought it would be boring by myself.

In a nutshell, yes it's still a lot of fun!

There is a complete game and goals to complete solo. That being said, this app shines with a few iphones and a few players-- That really showcases Apple products and how fun they can be. This app is REALLY polished. The ONLY issue I have with it (and, there very well may be a way to do this and i just don't know yet!) is when we are playing with the iPhones and click menu to say... Select some music to play, you cant go BACK to the game. I could only figure out how to restart.... This game is really cool.

Another idea for this thread, what are the BEST places for app ratings as of now? I still use TUAW.com but they are NOT only an app rating site. Still, I trust all reviews outta that joint.

Plus one for Goodreader. Really a no brainer at 99 cents.

I play with Facebook friends who play Scrabble online. It truly is a beautiful game, looks like the Scrabble Board is right in front of you. I love it!

Pinball HD (formerly The Pinball HD)--totally addicting
Wordpop! Volt
Shanghai Mahjong
Sudoku HD

For a fun demo, download this free app:
MotionX-Zen (shake dice by shaking your iPad)

Word processing:
Not fond of Pages--a waste of $9.99 IMO
Office2 HD is not a whole lot better
I'm waiting for Documents2Go to be an actual iPad app--not just iPad compatible.

Magic Piano and I Am T-Pain are fun (the former for me, the latter for my kids)

I love ToDo Queue, way cheaper than Things and works greats for me.

Netflix: work like a charm.

Red Alert: ah ok game.

I'm looking for a good note taking app that wouldn't be Evernote tho. The fact that you can't use it when not connected on the wifi is annoying. Any suggestion?
